Source: Orchid Cleaning Service clocked job times, Polk County, FL, March 2024 to October 2026 (a 2023 legacy import was excluded). Times are total on-site duration. The deep-clean and move-out samples are smaller (49 and 64 clocked jobs) and shown for guidance. Most vacation turnovers are worked by one cleaner, so that row isn't directly comparable (see the FAQ below).
Based on more than 6,500 clocked cleans in Polk County, Florida, a standard house cleaning takes a median of 88 minutes on site, with most between about 1 and 2 hours. A deep clean takes a median of 3 hr 15 min, a move-in/move-out clean 3 hr 36 min and a vacation-rental turnover 2 hr 59 min.
Our job records don't have a bedroom-count field, so we can't give a measured time for 3-bedroom homes. Across 5,483 standard cleans, the median was 1 hr 28 min on site, and the middle half took between 1 hr 8 min and 1 hr 53 min. Across 49 deep cleans, the median was 3 hr 15 min. These times cover all the homes in our data, not only 3-bedroom houses.
A vacation-rental turnover takes a median of 2 hr 59 min on site (typically 2 hr 19 min to 3 hr 45 min), across 312 clocked turnovers at 16 properties. 70% are worked by one cleaner instead of the usual two-person crew: solo turnovers run a median of 3 hr 8 min and two-cleaner turnovers 2 hr 24 min.
Most standard cleans are done by a two-person team, so about 90 minutes of clock time is closer to three hours of cleaning work. Deep cleans, move-outs and larger homes may run longer or bring another cleaner.
A standard clean maintains a home that is already cared for, so it runs about 90 minutes. A deep clean resets built-up grime inside appliances and along baseboards, grout and vents, which roughly doubles the time to about 3 hours. That extra labor is the main reason a deep clean also costs about 2.4 times more.
Plan on about an hour and a half for a standard clean, or about three hours for a deep clean or move-out. We'll give you a time window when you book. See house cleaning, recurring cleaning, deep cleaning and move-out cleaning, or what each one costs.
